Coach Ott played 4 years of high school baseball at St. John’s high school in John’s Island, South Carolina. He set school records in batting average, ERA, and other statistics. He earned a scholarship to play his college baseball at Charleston southern university but due to parents health he decided to give up baseball and help care for his parents.     

Coach Ott started as a volunteer coach for Smiths Station Rec Spring season in 2021. Ott was given a team that was picked by other coaches and deemed the “losing” team. However, he spent every practice evaluating each player’s strengths and weaknesses, highlighting individual strengths and improving player’s weaknesses.

During this season, Ott took a team of underdogs and led them to win the rec playoffs where the team won their first championship rings. He returned as head coach for the 2022 Rec Spring season where he again was given a team hand picked by others and was able to again win the championship. He was selected to be the all star coach where they placed 3rd in district and  3rd in state out of 16 teams. After retiring from the army coach Ott and his family moved to Alabaster, AL, and while looking to establish a travel ball team he discovered 5 Star and was selected to coach the 8U team.
